As the suicide rate has been on the constant increase in South Korea, unusual suicide cases have occurred. Investigation agencies have faced difficulties solving the various and complex suicide cases. Whereas there have been the statistics of suicide and research on the reason of suicide, unusual suicide cases have not been reported in domestic academia. In foreign countries, uncommon suicide cases have been reported and these data have been effectively utilized for investigation. This study described the methods of two suicide cases happened inside the jurisdiction of Pyeongtaek Police Station by analysing and reenacting. The purpose was to provide the basic data in preparation for the similar suicide cases and relevant follow-up studies.

최근 한국에서 자살률이 증가하면서 특이한 방법의 자살 사례가 보고되고 있다. 자살 방법이 다양화되고 복잡해짐에 따라 수사기관의 자살 사건 해결에 많은 어려움이 있다. 현재까지 국내에서는 자살 통계와 원인에 관한 연구는 활발하게 이루어지고 있으나, 특이한 자살 방법에 관한 연구는 찾아보기 힘들다. 국외의 경우, 과거부터 특이한 자살 사례가 연구 보고되고 있으며 이러한 자료는 수사 자료로도 효과적으로 활용되고 있다. 본 사례 연구는 근래 평택 경찰서에서 발생한 특이한 방법의 자살 사례 2건을분석하고 재현을 통하여 자살 방법을 풀이하였다. 이를 계기로 유사 변사사건 발생 시 효과적인 수사를 위한 기초정보를 제공함은 물론, 이와 관련한 연구의 기초자료로서 의미가 있을 것으로 예상된다.
