Jin Renshun is a representative female writer skilled in restrained narration from the group of “writers born in 1970s”. Unlike other female writers in the same group, she refrains herself from exposing women's figures to express the desire. Her works tend to shape the images of women who masquerade themselves while satisfying their desires to avoid direct conflicts with male-controled system in modern society, or, build images of women who directly resist tyranny of patriarchy system by reconstructing classical texts of the Joseon Dynasty period which reflect the malady of traditional patriarchy society. Almost all the male characters show powerlessness and “castration” in her works.

김인순은 “70년대에 출생한 작가” 중 “절제미”의 서사에 능한 대표적인 여류작가이다. 70년대 생의 다른 여류작가들과는 달리, 그녀의 소설은 여성의 신체를 통한 욕망의 관능적 표출을 절제하였다. 그녀의 소설은 현대사회에서 남성중심주의와 직접적인 충돌, 저항 대신 ‘가면’을 쓰고 자신의 욕망을 간접적으로 표출하는 여성상을 그리는 데 집중하였고, 전통적인 가부장제 사회의 폐단을 가장 잘 보여주는 조선시대를 배경으로 하는 고전적인 텍스트에 대한 재구성을 통하여 가부장제의 억압에 반항하는 도발적인 여성상을 표출하였다. 남성들은 거의 다 무기력한 형상으로 등장하며 집단적인 “거세” 양상을 보이고 있다.
