A Qualitative Research on the Burnout Experience of Youth Instructors

Youth instructors have systematic professional knowledge in adolescents, teaching technique, qualifications, and they are in charge of the juvenile fostering services. As a result, the role of youth instructors is gradually expanding. However, the youth instructors are dissatisfied with working conditions as promotion and wages. Also, they are experiencing much stress from work related problems, but interest in the welfare improvement of youth instructors is very poor. The exhaustion of youth instructors becomes emotional burden to individuals and they need to conduct dysfunctional performance of and organization. In the end, the exhaustion of youth instructors make negative effect on adolescents and youth activity. As explained, the exhaustion causes undesirable results not just to youth instructors, but to an organization and subjects as well. Therefore, this study searched for alternatives to prevent exhaustion by understanding the burnout experience of youth instructors through vivid onsite and in-depth qualitative research.
