This study was done to provide real help for the practice of literacy lessons in Social Studies by setting the goals of Literacy lessons in Social Studies that answer the requirements of the information age and by preparing the lesson organization strategies. So this study set the goal of literacy lessons in Social Studies as following: Students can interpret the speaker’s intention and value expressed through the various kinds of media. Students will acquire the attitudes and abilities to understand the technical, social and cultural influences of media on communication. This will make it possible for the students to share the perception of social problems and to solve the social problems through communication. Next, this study suggested the literacy lessons organization strategies in Social Studies by analyzing the characteristics of main information media and the problems of teenagers’ information media use. The literacy lessons in Social Studies provide the learners enough experiences in fluent reading, critical reading and cooperative reading. Through these activities, they should be the processes that help the students to form the attitude to solve the social problems together by sharing the perception of social problems.

본 연구는 정보화 시대의 요구에 부합하는 사회과 리터러시 교육의 목표를 설정하고, 구체적인 수업 구성 전략을 마련하여 사회과 리터러시 수업의 실천에 실질적인 도움을 주고자 하는 의도에서 진행되었다. 이에 따라, 다양한 매체를 통해 표출된 화자의 의도와 가치를 해석하고, 소통에 미치는 매체의 기술·사회·문화적 영향력을 이해하려는 태도 및 능력을 습득하는 것을 사회과 리터러시 교육의 목표로 설정하였으며 이를 통해 사회 공동의 문제에 대한 인식 공유 및 소통을 통한 사회문제 해결이 가능해질 것으로 보았다. 또한, 정보화 시대의 주요 매체 특성 및 청소년의 매체 활용 특성에 나타난 문제점들을 분석하여 해결방안을 포함한 사회과 리터러시 수업의 구성 전략을 제안하였다. 사회과 리터러시 수업은 학습자에게 ‘심화된 읽기’, ‘비판적 읽기’, ‘함께 읽기’의 경험을 충분히 제공하고, 사회 문제에 관한 인식을 공유하여 사회문제를 함께 해결하려는 태도를 형성하는 과정이 되어야 할 것이다.
