This study analyzed articles which have been published domestic about biotechnology(BT) education in elementary and secondary school from 1995 to 2014’s September. The purpose of this study is to analyze the trends of BT education in elementary and secondary school. And this study will be able to contribute to improve the recognition of BT. The result of this study is as follows. First, the research of BT education studied actively from 1995 to 2010. But since 2011, the number of research were plunged. Since 2000, the topic of research has been more various. But ethics and agricultural of BT research is mainly dealing with the topic was conducted. Second, in the study of BT education, there were many research examining attitudes and perceptions. Next, the educational methods and technology, educational curriculum and content was followed in order. There was no educational philosophy and education of teacher or pre- teacher study. Third, in the study of BT education, there were many research studying on the subject of high school student, it was close to half of the entire thesis. But the research of BT education in teacher or pre-teacher is relatively small. The importance of biotechnology education is growing bigger and changing rapidly. Therefore the research of biotechnology education should be studied much more various.

이 연구는 2014년 9월까지 국내에서 발표된 관련 논문을 수집 및 분석하여 초·중등교육에서의 생명 기술 교육에 관련된 연구의 동향을 분석하고, 차후 연구 방향을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 생명 기술 교육 관련 논문은 1995년에 처음 발표된 후 2000년 이후 연구 논문의 수가 급증하여 2010년까지 연구가 활발히 이루어졌다. 하지만 2011년 이후로 연구 논문의 수가 급감하여 초기에 생 명 기술 교육 관련 연구가 이루어지던 시기보다 연구물이 적게 나타났다. 둘째, 생명 기술 교육 관련 논문은 연구 대상의 생명 기술에 대한 태도 및 인식, 교육방법 및 공학, 교 육과정 및 내용을 다룬 논문이 많았고, 교육철학과 교사교육 분야를 연구한 논문은 전무하였다. 셋째, 생명 기술 교육 관련 연구는 조사연구, 문헌연구, 사례 및 개발연구가 많이 이루어졌으나 비교 적 실험연구 방법을 사용한 연구물의 수가 저조하였다. 넷째, 생명 기술 교육 관련 연구는 고등학생, 초등학생, 중학생을 대상으로 한 연구는 많았으나 비교 적 교사, 예비교사를 대상으로 한 연구는 적었다. 다섯째, 생명 기술 교육 관련 연구는 생명 기술과 윤리 주제를 다룬 논문이 가장 많았고, 농업, 생명 기술의 기초, 교과 교육학, 유전공학, 환경을 주제로 다룬 논문 순으로 연구가 많이 이루어졌다. 여섯째, 생명 기술 교육 관련 연구는 단독 연구자에 의한 논문이 가장 많았고, 2인 이상의 저자가 연 구한 논문은 전체의 절반이 되지 않았다. 연구자의 소속은 대학교가 가장 많았고, 초·중·고등학교, 연구소, 국외, 기타에 소속을 둔 연구자에 의한 연구는 비교적 적었다.
