Ordinarily, the account of conversion in Acts include mention of baptism. The practice of baptism involved the use of water as distinct from the spiritual baptism. However the baptism of Acts is inclusive because it treats both water baptism and spiritual baptism in holistic sense. This study will focus on the various baptismal topics described in Acts and apply the topics to the early church traditions from the first century to the fifth century. Luke, author of Acts, tried to observe the baptismal practices which had been told in Gospel of his own. Luke wanted to distinguish baptismal topics in two ares: the constituents of baptism and subjects of baptism. And he attempted to solve the problems with which the early church faced. This study will select the question or exhortation-type of sentences used for baptism, and confirm the messages that Luke wanted to expound by means of early church documents. The study on the baptismal rites of Acts provides modern churches with the original meaning and constituent of baptism and with the answers fort the crisis of modern baptism.

본 논문은 사도행전에 기술된 사건들을 중심으로 세례의 다양한 주제들을 살펴보 고 초기 교회의 세례에서 그 주제들이 어떻게 정리되고 예식화 되었는지 살펴볼 것이 다. 사도행전의 저자인 누가는 이전 누가복음에서 자신이 언급한 세례에 대한 예언이 어떻게 실현되는지 사도행전의 사건들을 통해 증명하려고 했다. 그래서 누가는 사도 행전에서 의도적으로 세례의 각 사건들을 세례의 구성요소들과 세례의 대상에 대한 영역별로 기술했으며 초기 교회가 직면한 세례의 문제점들을 해결하려고 했다. 본 논 문은 누가가 각 사건에서 사용한 질문 또는 권고 형식의 구문들을 택하고, 누가가 그 질문과 권고를 통해 설명하려고 했던 세례의 주제들을 초기 교회의 자료들을 통해 확 인할 것이다. 또한 초기 교회의 자료들로는 시대적으로 5세기까지의 동서방 전통의 문서들이 사용될 것이다. 사도행전의 세례 예식에 대한 연구는 초기 교회의 세례 전 통들이 가진 문제점들을 이해하는데 도움을 줄 뿐 아니라, 특히 세례 예식의 의미가 상실되고, 형식이 간소화되는 현대 교회의 세례가 배워야 할 요소들을 제공한다. 즉, 사도행전의 세례들은 세례의 전제 조건들, 세례와 성령 임재의 관계성들, 그리고 세례 집례자의 권위 등에 대한 원리들을 알려줌으로써 현대 교회가 온전한 세례를 회복하 는 데 필요한 성경적 기초를 제공한다.
