This paper is trying to discuss the past and present of so-called ‘regional studies’ from the perspectives of cultural anthropology. Nowadays we are experiencing radical changes on the several areas. Because of that reason, we need the new methods from this diverse area studies. The main purpose of this thesis is to check such new themes through the connection to the new areas like Eurasia. This is not a simple personal task but also a trial of corporate tasks of the regional researchers. For the thick and wide studies of Eurasia region, we have to enlarge the man-power and areas. Also we have to pursue theoretical areas and practical areas. To fulfill this purpose, firstly I choose the direction from my personal research areas and think about the new horizon of Eurasia regional studies. To make a way to proceed, I considered two areas from the point of view frame. That is the local areas and the disciplinary areas. Firstly, in the local areas, I considered the region from South Korean to the East Asian region. And furthermore, we are going to extend Asian region to European through Siberia and middle Asia region. Secondly, I discussed several points in the disciplinary areas and methodical areas. To fulfill this new attempt, we have to ask to us some questions like what kind of approaches are possible, and the new trial is available. Of course, these projects need the broad and new perspective of cultural anthropology.

한국의 문화인류학 분야에서 장기 현지연구 즉 ‘필드워크’에 기초한 본격적인 ‘지역연구’를 시작한지도 한 세대를 넘어가고 있다. 그동안 시 대적 요구와 그에 따른 영역들의 변화, 그리고 새로운 영역과의 접속들 이 요구되고 있다. 이글은 이러한 변화와 접속을 통한 새로운 생성의 하 나로 유라시아라는 지역 영역과 그 문화 연구의 모색을 인류학적 관점 에서 검토해 보는 것이 목표이다. 향후 연구와 실천 과정에서 개인적 작 업을 넘어서는 공동 작업이라는 인적 영역과 지역적 영역의 확대는 필 연적이리라. 그와 함께 연동되는 이론 영역과 주제 영역의 확대의 모색 과 발견 또한 필수적이다. 이러한 목적을 위해 본 논문은 개인적 연구 영역에서 출발하여 지역연구의 새로운 지평을 생각해보는 방식으로 진 행된다. 크게 세 가지의 영역 틀이 전제되는데, ‘지역-영역’과 ‘분과-영 역’ 그리고 ‘주제-영역’이 그것이다. 우선, 지역-영역으로는 한국과 일본 이란 틀에서 동아시아, 나아가 새로운 그것으로서 ‘유라시아’ 개념을 포 착하고 ‘유라시아학’의 도입을 제안한다. 이러한 거시적 영역 틀에 대한 분과-영역과 주제-영역, 방법론에서의 접근은 인류학이 그동안 촉발시 켜온 새로운 이론적 관점의 도입과 그 상호 연관 속에서 논의될 것이다. 이들은 모두 기존 영역-영토에서의 ‘탈영역화’ 또는 ‘탈영토화’를 위한 기도, 즉 ‘횡단학’의 기획에서 비롯한 것들이다.
