The study aims to examine the perceived oral health in high school student ablut periodontal disease. This study conducted a survey to students from D High School in Yongin City, K Girls’ High School in Incheon Metropolitan City, and C High School in Suwon City from May 16th till 29th, 2013. The survey consisted of total 50 questions in four areas: subjective periodontal symptoms, oral health management, general characteristics, and subjective periodontal knowledge. Among 300 questionnaire sheets distributed, total 297 were used for final analysis except for three either understood incorrectly or unreliably answered. 1. According to sex out of the subjects’ general characteristics, male students formed 53.0% while female students occupied 47.0%; thus, the ratios were similar. About smoking, 16.6% subjects answered they smoked whereas 83.4% did not say they smoked. Regarding drinking, 83.4% subjects answered they did not drink, so the ratio was exactly the same as that of smoking. About their financial situation, the upper class formed 7.8%, the middle class took up 78.0%, and the lower class occupied 14.2%. 2. Summing up 16 questions about subjective periodontal symptoms and 20 questions for selfadministered oral health management asked to the high school students, the study examined their subjective periodontal symptoms by sex based on the average and the t-test on sex, smoking, and drinking, and both showed statistically significant difference(p=0.006). Regarding smoking, subjective periodontal symptoms indicated statistically significant difference (p=0.000). About drinking, the degrees of subjective periodontal symptoms showed statistically significant difference, too(p=0.000).
