Hong Kong representative of Paris Foreign Missions Society during lateChosun/Japanese occupation established and run Bethanie sanatorium andNazareth Press. Korean Catholic Church had close relationship with these twoorganizations because health of fathers and publication of church books werethe foundation of missionary work. Diseases of Fathers were major obstacles against missionary work. Manymissionaries and Korean fathers died of diseases or left for Shanghai, Nagasaki,Hong Kong and France to treat the diseases. Since the first entry of the firstCatholic father in January 1836 up to 1937, 124 missionaries from ParisForeign Missions Society came to Korea for missionary work; 27 of them wentto Bethanie sanatorium for their diseases and many of them returned to thelocations of their mission work in Korea after treatment. Church books introduces and promotes churches to many people. KoreanCatholic Church published many books from Nazareth Press; books includedSangjaesangseo(in Chinese characters), Chosun and Catholic Church andHwangsayeong Memorial (in French), Catholic Church in Chosun(in English),Naseonsojajeon(in Latin and Korean), Daegu Vicariate Apostolic Guidebook(inLatin), Seoul Vicariate Apostolic Guidebook, Korean Church CommonGuidebook and Juil Instructions, etc. The most significant and important booksfor Korean Catholic Church were published from Nazareth Press.

한말ㆍ일제강점기 파리외방전교회 홍콩 대표부는 베타니 요양소와 나자렛 인쇄소를 설립,운영하였다. 한국천 주교회는 두 기관과 밀접한 관계가 있었는데, 성직자의 건강과 교회서적의출판은 선교의 토대인 때문이었다. 성직자들의 질병은 선교활동을 펼치는 데 큰 장애였다. 많은 선교사들과 한국인 성직자들이 질병으로 사망하 였고, 병을 치료하고자 상하이와 나가사키 그리고 홍콩과 프랑스로 떠났다. 1836년 1월 첫 신부가 입국한 이래 1937년까지 124명의 파리외방전교회 선교사들이 한국에 들어와 선교활동을 전개하였는데 그중 27명이 질병 때문에 베타니 요양소로 갔고 그중 많은 이들이 치료ㆍ휴양한 후 한국 선교지로 돌아왔다. 교회서적은 많은 이들에게 교회를 알린다. 한국천주교회는 나자렛 인쇄소에서 한문본 『상재상서』, 프랑스어 본『조선의 가톨릭교』와 『황사영백서』, 영어본 『조선의 가톨릭교』, 라틴어와 한글 복합본 『나선소자전』, 라틴 어본『대구 대목구 지도서』ㆍ『서울 대목구 지도서』ㆍ『한국교회 공동지도서』ㆍ『주일훈화집』 등을 간행하였다. 한 국천주교회의 가장 핵심적이고 중요한 책들이 나자렛 인쇄소에서 간행되었다.
