The Effect of Swedish Massage to the Health Index of the Mid-aged Women's

In this study, in order to study the effect of Swedish massage on the health index of middle-aged women, whole body cares using Swedish massages were conducted twice a week for 6 weeks, a total of 12 times of 40 minutes each from November 15, 2012 until December 17, 2012, using the carrier oil, targeting 8 middle-aged women, aged 40 to 59, living in Busan area. As a result, the abdominal obesity rates (p<0.1) and body mass index (p<0.05) were significantly decreased; and autonomic nervous system activity (p<.001) have improved; the physical stress (p<0.1) and emotional stress (p<0.05) have also significantly reduced, thus improving their stress and reducing their fatigue significantly (p<0.001). The above results suggested that Swedish massage reduces the abdominal obesity rate and body mass index of middle-aged women, possible to be effective in weight loss. Furthermore, it can be seen that autonomic nervous system, and has a positive effect on the change of the stress such as physical and psychological stress and fatigue. Accordingly, it is expected that the whole body care using Swedish massage, having a positive impact on the improvement of fatigue and physical health of middle-aged women, can be utilized as a valuable program for health care.
