This paper discusses how Yeats attains the Unity of Being through the reconciliation of the yin and the yang. This reconciliation is an aspect of beatitude. Yeats depicts sexual intercourse of male and female as an image of dance which attains this state of beatitude. 1) The narrator watches his or her dream in which the dancers are dancing. 2) The dance represents the image of sexual intercourse. 3) The dancers reach the top of the tower whirling up the twisted circuit stairs. 4) The process is manifested in symbols in Yeats’s poems: a statue, a beautiful woman, and the integration of the sun and the moon. The condition for the dance to unite body and spirit through dancing with opposite sex is similar to Nibbāna that a hermit reaches through a thorough training in Buddhism.
