In the twenty-first century, society has faced many developing changes throughout artistic, cultural and scientific fields. This research study is about how to reflect and visualize the complicated social elements of modern society in a new creative way. The methods of introduction include both aesthetic and intellectual characteristics to create a design product that is philosophical and artistic. Typography is one of the greatest design inventions that considers two parts: language and aesthetics. By using typographical design applied to fashion design, it will attain the new meanings. The first is that fashion can be practical and functional as it contains language as a direct expression of meaning. The second is that fashion is able to be a part of modern art that the public can easily experience and consume. Therefore, fashion design becomes a successful source with much potential to mediate between expression and communication in modern society. The study will review some theories and other research on terms such as ‘persona’, ‘chaos’ and ‘typography.’ Also, other artists’ typographical artworks and contemporary fashion collections will be used as reference to create a new fashion collection that is comprised of eight pieces of work.

21C인 현재에는 과학과 문화 예술 등의 모든 분야에 걸쳐 다원화적 양상의 다양한 시도가 활발히 이루어지고 있어 새로움을 창출해내고 있다. 본 연구는 서로 다른 철학들이 연결되어 언어적인 면과 조형적인 면을 동시에 지니는 타이포그래피(typography)를 패션 디자인에 적용하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이로써 단순히 시각적인 대상으로만 여겨졌던 현대미술작업을 생활 속에서 입는다는 목적을 실현하여 실용적이고 동시에 시각적인 패션디자인에 새로움을 부여하며, 나아가 디자인의 영역을 확대하고 새로운 표현방법을 제시하고자 한다. 우선 이론적 배경으로서 페르소나(persona), 카오스(chaos), 타이포그래피의 정의 등을 문헌연구로 고찰하고, 현대미술 작가들의 타이포그래피 작업, 2014년 패션디자이너들의 컬렉션을 사례연구하였다. 연구의 결과로서 패션디자인 개발은 연구자의 타이포그래피 작품을 응용하여 이루어졌으며 패션디자인 8점이 제시되었다.
