The purpose of this study is to examine the factors influencing on the police officers'attitude to response in domestic violence. To achieve the goal, the authors collected thesurveyed data from 210 police officers in Dae-gu City Police Department. Amultinorminal logistic regression is used to predict the attitude to response in domesticviolence. The results show that gender variable among the demographic characteristics ofrespondents becomes a significant predict. Male police officers are more likely to useproactive formal response to domestic violence than female officers. More importantfindings in this study are that the attitude of response is predicted by police occupationalsocialization and patriarchal value. Specifically, police officers experienced frequentlydomestic violence tend to show passive and use informal sanction. Next, police officersadhering to patriarchal viewpoint and unequality of gender issue are less likely to showthe severe attitude to domestic violence. It means that the police officers holding aviewpoint of the weakened belief of gender equality seem to believe domestic violence asonly an issue of the family. Finally, a significant factor predicting the attitude is policeofficers' perception of victim in the domestic violence cases. Some of the police officershaving a viewpoint to victims who have an contribution to cause domestic violence areless likely to intervene with active attitude in domestic violence. This result may becauseof the cynicism of police officers dealing with domestic violence. Pervious researcheshave shown that police officers working in the area with the higher crime rate are easyto show the negative perception to the victim. Futhermore, the findings also show theinsignificant effect of officers' knowledge of law and education to the police officer. As aresult, it is necessary to change the officers' perception that can help for the officer torealize the seriousness of domestic violence. To do this it should be built to aneducational course based on the cognitive-behavioral principle.

이 연구는 가정폭력사건에 대한 경찰관들의 대응태도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 검증하기 위해수행되었다. 연 구목적 달성을 위해 대구지방경찰청 소속 지구대 및 파출소 경찰관 210명으로부터얻은 설문조사자료를 분석 하였다. 경찰관들의 대응태도를 예측하기 위해 다항로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 통계적 분석결과, 인구사회학적 변인들 중에서 성별이 유의미한 영향력을 보여주었다. 남성경찰관은 여성경 찰관에 비해 가정폭력사건에 대한 공식적이고 적극적인 대응을 보다 많이 하려는경향을 보여주었다. 한편 이 연구의 핵심적인 결과는 가정폭력사건에 대한 경찰관의 대응태도에직업적 사회화와 가부장적 가치관의 영향 력이 반영되었다는 것이다. 보다 구체적으로 설명하자면잦은 가정폭력사건을 경험하는 경찰관들은 가정폭력 가해자에 대한 대응태도가 소극적이고 비공식적인 조치를 취하는 경향이 나타났다. 다음으로 경찰관들 중 가 부장적 가치관을 견지하고 성역할에 대해 고정관념이 강할수록 가정폭력사건에 덜 엄격한 태도를 보여주는 것으로 나타났다. 즉,성평등에 대한 의식이 약할수록 가정폭력을 가정사의 문제로 취부 할 가능성이 높은 것 이다. 마지막으로 가정폭력사건에 대한 경찰관들의 대응태도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 요인은 가정폭력피해 자에 대한 경찰관의 인식이었다. 경찰관들 중 가정폭력 피해자가 폭력을 유발하였거나 일정수준에서 기여하 였다고 인식할수록 가정폭력사건에 소극적으로 대처하는 경향성을 보여주었다. 이 결과는 경찰의 냉소주의와 관련이 될 것으로 이해된다. 기존 연구들에 의하면 범죄발생이 잦은 지역을 담 당하는 경찰관들은 범죄피해자들에 대해 부정적 인식을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 가정폭력에 대한 법적 지식과 교육은 경찰대응태도에 영향력이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 종합할때, 가정폭력사건의 심각성을 경찰관 들이 인지하고 행동하기 위해서는 경찰관의 인식전환이 요구된다. 이를 위해 경찰관 대상 인지행동 교육과정 의 개발이 요구된다.
