The purpose of this study sought to examine the differences among the handicap level of golf participants on thefactors and attributes influencing on selecting a public golf course. In order to accomplish this study, total 200questionnaires were distributed to golf participants of two public golf courses at the southeastern region of U. S. using a convenient sampling method. Among them, 189 usable questionnaires were available because elevenquestionnaires were excluded that were not applicable. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, exploratoryfactor analysis, reliability analysis, and multivarite analysis of variance using SPSSWIN Ver. 18.0. The results ofthis study indicated that there was no difference among handicap levels of golf participants on four influentialfactors to select a public golf course. However, there was difference among handicap levels of golf participantson two items of the course quality factor. More specifically, low handicap golfers and middle handicap golfersrated maintenance of fairway significantly higher than did high handicap golfers. low handicap golfers ratedmaintenance of green significantly higher than did high handicap golfers.

본 연구는 골프참여자의 특성 중 핸디캡 수준에 따른 대중골프장 선택에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대한 차이를 규명하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 본 연구에서는 미국 남동부 지역에 위치한 두 곳의 대중골프장의 골프참여자 200명을 편의표본 추출법을 이용하여 임의표집한 후, 189명의 자료를 분석에 사용하였다. 자료분석은 SPSSWIN Ver. 18.0을 이용하여 기술 통계, 탐색적 요인분석, 신뢰도 분석, 중다변량분석을 실시하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 골프참여자의 핸디캡 수준에 따른 대중골프장 선택에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대한 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 골프참여자의 핸디캡 수준에 따른 골프코스품질의 두 구성문항은 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 낮은 핸디캡 수준과 중간 핸디캡 수준의 골프참여자는 높은핸디캡 수준의 골프참여자보다 페어웨이관리에 평균치가 높았다. 이는 싱글 플레이어와 보기 플레이어는 페어웨이의 관리에 대해 더블보기 플레이어보다 더 많이 고려하는 것을 의미한다. 둘째, 낮은 핸디캡 수준의 골프참여자와 높은 핸디캡 수준의 골프참여자는 그린관리에서 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 싱글 플레이어는 대중골프장을 선택할 때 더블보기 플레이어보다 그린의 컨디션을 더 많이 관심을 가진다고 할 수 있다.
