IT has shifted from enhancing internal efficiency to improving an external competitive advantage. As a means of securing companies’ competitive advantage, the strategic use of IT has become increasingly important. The impact of variables on IT investment attraction had been studied and leadership with regard to these is an important variable. Note, however, that the influence of leadership trait on IT investment had yet to be studied. This study investigated the leadership trait to be developed in an organization through IT investment. Leadership trait is classified into leadership qualification, style, CEO personality or character and communication style. Through the classified leadership trait, a total of 37 variables and data were acquired based on 179 CEO questionnaires. In this study, three data mining techniques were used: as Association Rules and Rule Induction Techniques: C5.0 and CART. The results of this study suggest that formal mutual communication is an important variable, and that autonomy, motivation and initiative have impacts on IT investment.

정보기술은 빠르게 변화하는 경영환경에 적응하고 생산성을 향상시키기 위해 필수적으로 도입해야 하는 경영도구로 자리 잡았고 이와 더불어 IT투자 성과에 대한 연구 역시 활발하게 진행되어왔다. IT투자 성과에 영향을 미치는 여러 변수 중 리더십은 중요한 변수로 여겨져 왔으나 구체적인 리더십 성향에 관한 연구는 진행된 바가 없었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 리더십 성향을 리더십 자질 및 스타일, CEO의 성격 그리고 커뮤니케이션 스타일로 나누고 하위분류로 37개의 변수를 선정하여 IT투자가 조직성과에 긍정적인 인식을 가지는 CEO의 리더십 변수를 도출하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 사용된 방법은 데이터마이닝 기법인 연관성 규칙과 규칙유도기법을 사용하였으며, CEO 총 179명의 응답을 통해 획득된 자료를 이용하였다. 분석결과 공식적이고 쌍방향 커뮤니케이션이 가장 중요하게 영향을 미치는 변수로 선정되었고 자율성, 동기부여 그리고 주도성이 중요한 변수로 선정되었다.
