Previous research has approached the study of educators from an administrative and institutional perspective. This study aims to investigate “teachers’ happiness” more personally from the point of view of educators and reveal important implications using studies examining significant factors, such as stress levels and psychological influences. This study examines the factors that influence and boost growth in educators not only as professional teacher, but also as a person. The present research evaluates “teaching happiness” in terms of the feeling of achievement and fulfillment. The overall analysis of previous studies reveals that educators’ “teaching happiness” is largely influenced by factors such as personal dedication, improvements in the leadership of the educational administration, reduction of busywork and class hours, training and support systems built during different stages in life, and personal leadership abilities and internal qualities. In order for these factors to continuously and meaningfully affect educators in the future, critical areas that need to be addressed are threefold: 1) Actual studies regarding “teaching happiness” from the point of view of educators, 2) Objective and national scale surveys that provide a practical analysis and understanding of educators, and 3) An in-depth study on educators in context.

이 연구에서는 그 동안 교사 연구의 상당 부분이 행정이나 제도적인 측면에서 접근되어 왔다는 문제의식에 기초하여, 교사의 ‘교직행 복’의 관점에서 외국에서 수행된 교사 스트레스 관련 연구 등 교사의 심리나 감정 상태에 대한 다양한 논의들을 소개, 검토하고 그로부 터 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다. 여기서 교사의 ‘교직행복’이란 교사가 교육 활동을 수행하는 과정 속에서 느끼게 되는 ‘교사’로서의 성취감, 교육적 보람과 같은 것으로 , 교사를 전문직업인으로서도, 인간으로서도 한층 더 성장하게 하는 동력인의 의미를 포함한다. 선행연구들을 검토한 결과, 교사의 교직행복은 교직 헌신의 영향요인과 마찬가지로 교육 관리직의 리더십 제고, 잡무 경감, 수업시수 의 감축, 생애 단계별 연수 및 지원 체제 구축 등과 같은 외적 조건과 교사 자신의 리더십 등 내적 조건을 동시에 필요로 한다. 이 같은 내외적인 조건들이 교사에게 지속적으로 의미 있게 영향을 미칠 수 있게 하기 위해서는, 1) 교사의 ‘교직행복’의 관점으로부터 의 접근, 2) 객관적이고 심층적인 교사 이해를 위한 전국 수준의 실태 조사와 현상학적인 분석, 3) 교사의 교직 수행에 대한 맥락적인 이해 연구 등, 교직을 수행하는 인간으로서의 교사에 대한 보다 심층적인 논의를 향후 과제로 제안하였다.
