During the Han dynasty, there were several works on the primary Chinese characters: the Jijiupian(急就篇), Cangjiepian(倉頡篇), Xunzuanpian(訓纂篇), Fanjiangpian(凡將篇), and Pangxipian(滂喜篇). The Jijiupian(急就篇) is a textbook for teaching children to read and write, compiled by Shi You(史遊), an official in the Western Han dynasty of Emperor Yuan Di(43-39 B.C.). It not only played a very important role in the history of traditional Chinese education, but also in the creation of calligraphy. It also prevailed as a textbook for children to learn Chinese characters. As a matter of fact, it functioned as a book with which to learn both language and common sense. This book had a great influence on much of the natural and social knowledge people then possessed. Its content is very rich, and has special historical value for the research of Chinese characters. This paper provides precise statistical research into Cao’s(艸) radical Yiwen(異文) of the Jijiupian(急就篇).

본 연구에서는 <急就篇>의 異文에 대한 보다 체계적인 고찰을 위해 연구 대상을 ‘艸’頭 異文으로 한정하고 ‘艸’頭가 附加된 異文과 ‘艸’頭가 省略된 異文을 구분하여 <急就篇> '艸’頭 글자가 어떻게 변천되었는지를 살펴보았다. 일반적으로 <急就篇>의 ‘艸’頭 異文에 대해 草書에 따라 偏旁이 省略된 결과로 보기 쉬운데, 본 연구를 통해 ‘艸’頭 異文 중에는 偏旁이 省略된 글자뿐만 아니라 偏旁이 附加된 글자도 있으며 그 과정에는 두 글자 뜻의 유사성이 어느 정도 관여되기도 한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 본 연구를 통해 顔師古本의 <急就篇> 글자가 대부분 正字라는 것을 알 수 있었는데, 이에 따라 그 판본을 근거로 한 <｢急就篇｣의 部首字形에 대한 고찰>의 통계가 실제에 가까울 것이라는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
