The WCC 10th Assembly left a significant mark in terms of the missiological point of view because of the announcement of a mission confirmation that was submitted and officially approved, “Together towards Life: Mission and Evangelism in Changing Landscapes.” As mentioned in the title, in the 21st century’s “Changing Landscapes,” a developmental blueprint for the new understanding and execution of mission and evangelism was announced. This new mission affirmation presents a new direction of world mission in the mission landscapes and an alternative way to revitalize “mission Dei.”The mission affirmation proclaims that Jesus Christ is the Life of the world and that affirming life in all its fullness is Jesus Christ’s ultimate concern and mission (John 10:10). It also states that “mission begins in the heart of the triune God” and “the missionary God calls all God’s people and empowers them to be a community of hope.” The mission affirmation emphasizes the mission of the Holy Spirit in the bigger picture of the mission of the Triune God. The 10th Busan Assembly of the WCC presented many documents. Among them, some significant resource documents were presented which could lead to paradigm shifts of world ecumenical movements such as “Together towards Life,” “The Church: Towards a Common Vision,” and “Christian Witness in a Multi-Religious World.” Busan Assembly of the WCC followed in the series of councils, committees, and CWME meetings calling for a wide range of ecumenical reflection and ecumenical sharing of missionary personnel. This paper will examine the mission theology of the WCC and CWME based upon the themes of the WCC and CWME meetings. First, it will focus on the specific issues of justice, peace, and the integrity of creation. Second, it will explore the missiological implications this new mission affirmation left to the Korean church and to the Korean missionaries who have to practice it in mission fields.

2013년 부산에서 개최된 제10차 WCC 총회는 남반구 기독교의 성장을 반영하며 세계선교의 지형변화를 상징적으로 보여준다. 분단 상황의 한반도에서 개최됨으로써 총회주제인 생명, 정의, 평화 중에서 정의와 평화의 문제가 현장과 잘 연결되는 대회장소가 되었다. 제10차 부산총회에 이르기까지 발표된 WCC의 많은 문서에 나타나 있는 선교신학은 갑자기 나온 것이 아니라, 시대적 상황에 대한 신학적 성찰과 선교적 대안으로 나온것이다. 부산총회의 선교문서 “함께 생명을 향하여”는 삼위일체 하나님의선교라는 큰 틀 속에서 성령의 선교를 강조한다. 예수 그리스도의 궁극적관심은 풍성한 생명(요 10:10)에 있고 “선교는 삼위일체 하나님의 마음에서시작”되었으며 “‘선교사 하나님’은 모든 하나님의 백성을 부르시어 희망의공동체가 되게” 하신다. 본 글에서는 역대 WCC 총회와 총회 사이에 개최되는 세계선교와 전도위원회(CWME)에서 논의된 주요 선교주제를 개관한다. WCC의 최근선교신학이 반영되어 있는 부산총회의 새로운 선교선언문 “함께 생명을 향하여: 기독교의 지형변화 속에서의 선교와 전도”(2013)와 “교회: 공동의 비전을 향하여”(2012), “다종교 세계에서의 기독교의 증언: 행동 권고”(2011)등의 선교문서를 중심으로 정의, 평화, 창조세계 보전 등의 의제를 중점적으로 살펴본다. 끝으로 WCC 부산총회가 한국교회와 선교현장에 주는 교훈과 실천방안을 제안한다.
