The memorial product in Busan is the proclamation of the new missionary text. With the title ‘Together Toward Life: Mission and Evangelism in Changing Landscapes’ left the challenges and future works to Church Korea. What does the text actually means? Some may ask. It would be the proper timing that “Mission and Theology” to offer understandings about the text according to Korean context for Mission Korea. The study on applying TTL in Korean perspective will expand the ideas and help the subject to not last among few ecumenical experts. Also It will lead the majority of Korean churches to reflect and innovate the missiological practices. The major objective of the study is to overcome current missionary issues by true unity without losing the core essence of Missio Dei. Also, it expects critical reflections on the new WCC text to be widely discussed, moreover, a positive changes to fill the local ministry and oversea mission. The study first summarizes and explains the contents and objectives of TTL. Then lists the criticism given by the Churches of the World, and suggests a critical and practical perspective considering Korean missionary context. The study is a textual research mainly using TTL, with additional help of publications about the text on IRM, a academic missionary journal published by WCC and IBMR, a moderate missionary journal.

WCC(세계교회협의회) 부산총회의 기념비적인 의의는 새로운 선교문서를 천명한 것이다. “함께 생명을 향하여: 변화하는 지형 속에서 선교와 전도”(Together Toward Life: Mission and Evangelism in Changing Landscapes)라는 좀 긴 제목의 새로운 선교문서에서 한국교회는 어떤 도전을 받고 한국상황에서 어떻게 적용해야 할 것인지 숙제로 남아있다. 도대체 새로운 선교문서가 발표되었다고 해서 어쨌단 말이냐라고 어떤 사람은 반문할 것이다. 이러한 때 『선교와 신학』이 WCC 새로운 선교문서 ‘함께 생명을 향하여’(Together Toward Life = TTL)의 한국적 성찰과 적용을 특집주제로 한 것은 시의적절하며 한국교회 선교 성찰과 발전에 크게 기여할 것으로 본다. 따라서 필자는 ‘함께 생명을 향하여’(TTL)의 한국적 적용이란 논제를연구하는데, 그 이유는 한국교회에 WCC의 새로운 선교문서인 ‘함께 생명을 향하여’에 대한 이해를 증진시키며, 소수의 학자나 에큐메니칼 전문가만의 전유물로 전락하지 않고 대다수 한국교회가 선교실천을 비판적으로성찰하고 새롭게 변화하도록 도전을 주는 데 있다. 본 연구의 주 목적은 한국교회 선교의 문제점을 극복하고 참된 일치와 연합을 도모하면서도 하나님의 선교의 진정한 본질을 잃지 않도록 하는 데 있다. 그렇게 되면 WCC새로운 선교문서에 대한 비판적 성찰이 활성화되며, 무엇보다 국내 목회와타문화권 선교실천에 변화의 바람이 일게 되기를 기대한다. 따라서 필자는먼저 ‘함께 생명을 향하여’의 핵심내용과 목적과 신학적 확신이 무엇인지를요약·정리하고, 세계교회에서 제기된 이 문서의 비판적 성찰을 고려하면서 한국교회와 선교 현실에서 비판적으로 성찰하고 적용해야 할 관점을 제시하려고 한다. 연구의 방법은 WCC ‘함께 생명을 향하여’를 중심으로 하되 WCC가 발간하는 선교 전문학술지 IRM(International Review of Mission)에 실린 새로운 선교문서에 대한 연구논문을 참고하는 문헌연구 방식으로 구성된다.
