The purpose of this study is to explore the intellectual structure of PR research in Korea and to investigate the status of PR research as an academic field. This study analyzed 132 articles in Journal of Public Relations Research which published by the Korean Academic Society for Public Relations, using author cocitation analysis as a method. Also, multidimensional scaling and cluster analysis were used as the statistical method. As a result, 20 scholars who ranked high citation frequency were selected. They were classified into four primary categories as the research subjects: PR theory, PR and feminism, PR ethics, and international PR.

본 연구는 국내 PR 연구의 학문적 정체성과 지적구조를 밝히고, 현재 학문적 영역의 상황을 진단하고자 한다. 이러한 연구 목적을 위해, 한국홍보학회에서 발행하는 ‘홍보학연구’ 전권에 실린 PR 논문 132편을 분석하여, 저자동시인용 분석(Author Cocitation Analysis)을 실시하였다. 수집된 데이터를 통계적으로 분석하기 위해 다차원 척도법(Multidimensional Scaling)과 군집 분석(Cluster Analysis)을 이용하였다. 그 결과, 연구논문에서 동시인용빈도가 가장 높은 20명의 학자들과 인용된 연구논문이 정리되었다. 선정된 20명의 학자들은 모두 PR 분야의 주요 학자들이며, 이들은 다시 연구 주제에 따라 일반적 PR이론, PR과 여성, PR 윤리, 그리고 국제 PR이라는 네 개의 집단으로 분류되었다.
