This study investigated the moral philosophy of Immanuel Kant who deals with ethical introspection and justification issues from relativistic point of view, researched the approach of utilitarianism ethics that mean for ethical introspection and justification from relativistic point of view, and pointed out their limitations to give answers to a question, 'when ministers face ethical problems derived from modern society in the field of their ministry, how would they develop the ethical justification logic according to which frame and perspective of ethical introspection?' and investigated the possibility of how these limitations can be harmonized and compromised according to a method proposed by Paul Tillich. Also, this study investigated the logic of ethical justification that ministers need to be prepared with, meaning the frame of ethical introspection, structure of viewpoint, and logical understanding. Paul Tillich's suggestion is based on two traditional flows of moral philosophy, Kantian ethics and utilitarianism ethics, contains the frame of moral introspection suggested in the bible, and is showing alternatives to the judgement and analysis of ethical problems in the field of ministry or modern society through the principle of Agape love and Kairos principle.'Also, this study is suggesting the better way of dealing with modern ethical problems, meaning, implementation of alternative vision. In this aspect, the approach of Tillich has a significance in terms of how he did not only explain about the category and standard of secular society in connectin to the theories, but how he also attempted to compose the frame of ethical introspection within a range of suggestions made by bible.

본 연구는 ‘현대사회 속에서 파생되는 윤리적 문제를 목회자가 목회현장 가운데서 대면하게 될 때 목회자는 어떤 윤리적 성찰의 틀과 관점에 따라 윤리적 정당화의 논리를 전개할 수 있을까’ 라는 물음에 기대어 절대주의적 관점에서 윤리적 성찰과 정당화의 문제를 다루는 임마누엘 칸트의 윤리학과 상대주의적 관점에서 윤리적 성찰과 정당화를 꾀하는 공리주의 윤리학의 접근을 살펴보고 이들의 한계를 지적하였다. 그리고 이러한 한계의 극복을 폴 틸리히가 제안하는 방식에 따라 이들의 관계가 어떻게 조화 혹은 절충될 수 있는지 그 가능성을 살펴보았다. 그리고 이를 통해 목회자가 갖추어야 하는 윤리적 정당화의 논리, 즉 윤리적 성찰의 틀과 관점의 구성 및 그에 대한 논리적 이해를 살펴보았다. 틸리히의 제안은 윤리학의 전통적인 두 흐름인 칸트 윤리학과 공리주의 윤리학에 터하면서도 성경이 제시하는 도덕적 성찰의 틀을 지니고 목회현장 혹은 현대사회 속에서 내던져지는 윤리문제의 판단과 분석에 있어 대안의 가능성을 ‘아가페(agape)의 의미에서의 사랑의 원리와 카이로스(kairos) 원리’를 통해 보여준다. 그리고 이를 통해 현대의 윤리적 문제에 대응하는 더 나은 길, 즉 대안적 비전의 구현을 제시하고 있다. 이러한 점에서 틸리히의 접근은 세속적 사회의 범주와 규범을 단순히 기존의 학설과 연결 지어 반복적으로 설명하려 한 것이 아니라 그와 함께 성경이 우리에게 제시해주는 범주 내에서 그 윤리적 성찰의 틀을 구성하려 시도했다는 점에 큰 의의가 있다.
