The purpose of this study was to identified the relationship between self-efficacy and stage of change on exercise in general sports class participants. 291 students participated in general sports class were recruited in university of seoul and kyung-in province. They administrated questionnaires of the stage of exercise behavior, self-efficacy. The obtained data were analyzed using X2, one-way ANOVA, regression analysis by SPSS 15.0 and AMOS 6.0 program. The results of this study were summarized as follows: First, there were no significant differences to participant's type in general sports class according to sex, department. Second, there were significant differences to participant's self-efficacy according to the stage of exercise behavior. Last, university students' self-efficacy depending on the stage of exercise behavior, self concept, self confidence and satisfaction was significantly higher in the groups of preparation and maintenance stage than the one of pre-contemplation stage. According to the results of above, it seems to be necessary to participate in general sports class for university students' high self-efficacy.
