Several disciplines have different views and assumptions on the human being’s nature; whether he or she is selfish or sometimes can be altruistic. Human being as a social animal shows both characteristics, but different weight by countries and culture. Societies can be divided into individualistic or collectivism by relative weight between the both. Prisoner’s dilemma game in economics explains cooperation as a rational choice seeking long term interest on the base of short term sacrifice. In evolutionary biology, they explain the cooperation as a social instinct based on mutuality. For many people cooperation is a culture, which is a habit, belief, and value, instead of rational choice following long or short term interests by situations. Especially, for korean, cooperation is a strong norm, and rule the many people's thoughts and behaviors. Also many Koreans show collectivism which shows big difference in cooperative behaviors between inner-group and outer-group. This paper proposes theoretical reasoning for the formation of cooperative culture in view of transaction cost and collective behavior for the Korean in view of resources constraints. This paper also analyze the some characteristics of Korean in view of cooperation and proposes some suggestions to promote cooperative behaviors in Korea.

인간이 개인의 이익추구를 우선하는 이기적인 존재인지 때로는 개인 이익의 희생 위에 타인과 협력 을 할 수도 있는 이타적 존재인지에 대하여 학문분야마다 상당히 다른 가정과 관점을 보이고 있다. 사 회적 동물인 인간은 두 가지 특성을 모두 보이지만 국가 및 문화에 따라서 상대적 비중에서 차이를 보 인다. 이에 따라 사회를 개인주의 사회냐 집단주의 사회냐로 구분하기도 한다. 경제학의 협력에 대한 해석 이론인 죄수의 딜레마 게임은 협력을 장기 이익을 위한 단기적 희생이란 관점에서 설명한다. 생물 학에서는 협력을 사회적 본능으로 해석하려고 한다. 많은 사람에게 협력은 상황에 따라 단기 또는 장기 적 이익이 되는지에 따라 판단하는 합리적 의사결정의 영역을 넘어서서 습관화, 가치관화 된 행동으로 나타난다. 특히, 한국인들에 있어서 협력은 매우 강한 규범으로 자리잡고 있으며, 실제적으로 많은 사람 들의 의식 및 행동양식을 지배한다. 또한 한국인들은 내집단과 외집단 간에 협력 행동에 차이가 큰 집 단주의 행동 양식을 보인다. 본 논문에서는 협력에 관한 기존 이론들을 고찰하고, 한국인들의 협력적 특성인 협력의 가치관화와 집단주의 특성에 관한 이론적 틀을 제시하고자 한다. 협력이 어떻게 가치관 화 되는가에 대해서는 거래비용 관점을 도입하고, 협력적 행동인 집단주의 성향에 대해서는 개인의 자 원제약성 관점을 이용하여 분석한다. 다음으로 한국인들의 몇 가지 협력 특성을 분석하고 개선을 위한 시사점을 제시한다.
