The study is a sketch of theoretical foundations of Ethics Counseling. Ethics Counseling means the counseling based by ethics or ethics education approaches. The need that ethics and counseling should be reciprocally combined together is rising from the main current cognitive and upward approaches of moral development which make proper scope and domain of ethics or moral education narrow, but also make students' personal mental or behavioral problems trivial, and from the psychologization or medicalization orientation of major theories of counseling which deprives counseling of its moral values, but also distort normal mental and moral life. In order to search for the possible theoretical foundations of ethics counseling which could be used as intervention tool or teaching method or skill for ethics counseling, it exams many developed theories or programs of several counseling academic societies, including Psychological Counseling, Philosophical Counseling, and ethics or moral education studies. Followings could be considered viable as ethics counseling basic theories; Aristole's virtue ethics and his ethical particularism, existentialists's self-realization theory, ethical decision -making counseling model, counselor as a moral character model, ethical 5-stages Approaches(L. marinoff), emotion-therapy model(E. Cohen), a good life model(A. Fatic), Consideration model(P. McPail), negative morality model(F. K. Oser)... etc. These theories could be classified as the specific methods into five domains of ethics counseling topics which are common and general issues, emotion or desire issues, discipline or reflection issues, and moral learning issues.

본 논문은 윤리학과 도덕ㆍ윤리교육 접근법에 근거한 상담, 즉 ‘윤리상담’의 가능성을 검토한 다. ‘윤리’와 ‘상담’이 발전적으로 결합되어야 하는 필요는 첫째, 인지중심적이거나 상향적 도덕 발달에 초점을 맞추는 도덕교육의 주류적 방향은 본래의 도덕교육의 대상과 영역을 축소하는 것이며, 정상적 도덕발달에 어려움을 겪게 하는 개인의 비-도덕적 혹은 행동적 문제를 간과한 다는 점, 둘째, 작금의 상담이론의 방향이 과도하게 심리학 또는 생물의학적으로 편중됨으로써 윤리적 기준이 침식되고 윤리적 영역이 위축될 수 있다는 점에 있다. 그리고 생활지도, 정신건 강, 학교 상담은 그 기원과 성격에 있어서 윤리교육과 친족성을 갖고 있다는 점이다. 이에, 본 논문은 윤리상담의 이론적 근거를 구축하기 위해서, 기성의 심리상담학, 철학상담학, 그리고 윤리학과 윤리교육 방법론에서 윤리교육적 성격을 지니는 이론과 프로그램을 탐색하였 다. 심리상담학에서는 정신분석학이나 행동주의의 탈가치적이고 과학적인 상담 이론과는 달리 , 아리스토텔레스나 실존주의계열의 윤리학이론, 윤리적 의사결정 모형, 윤리적 인격자로서의 상담자 모형과 같은 윤리적 접근법을 발견할 수 있다. 철학상담학에서는 매리노프(L. Marinoff) 의 5단계 모형, 코헨(E. Cohen)의 ‘정서치료 모형, 파틱(A. Fatić)의 도덕적 삶 모형 등이 주요 한 윤리적 접근법으로 해석될 수 있다. 그리고 윤리학과 윤리교육 영역에서는 툴민(S. Toulmin)의 특수주의, 맥페일(P. McPhail)의 고려 모형, 오서(F. K. Oser)의 ‘부정적 도덕’ 모형, 여러 학자들의 배려와 서사 접근법, 그 밖의 많은 도덕적 학습 모형과 방법론들이 원용될 수 있 는 자원으로 여겨진다. 이들 윤리교육적 접근법들은 상담 주제들, 즉 일반 문제, 정서와 욕구 문제, 반성과 훈육 문제, 도덕학습 문제에 따라 그 적합성을 높일 수 있도록 분류되었다. 본 논문은 윤리교육과 기성 상담이론 내에는 윤리상담에 활용 가능한 이론 자원 및 접근법들이 모색될 수 있다고 본다.
