This study, based on Eisner’s artistic perspective on education, is to understand content of education. Through this idea, I discuss the implications in primary education. To sum up the result of this study is as in the following. First, Eisner’s perspective on education is artistic. The reasons are the follows: ‘qualitative characteristic of experience’, ‘extended cognitive perspective including affect’, ‘important role of the sensibility’, ‘forms of representation as cognitive medium’. Second, educational content is understood the concept of ‘forms of representation’ away from the concept of ‘basic subject’. Third,, the concept of ‘forms of representation’ provides the conceptual grounds to ‘meta-learning’ as content of primary education. The Eisner’s artistic perspective on education provides conceptual framework for viewing the content of education. Through the conceptual framework, we view the content of primary education with different angle.

이 연구의 목적은 Eisner의 교육을 바라보는 예술적 관점으로 교육내용의 모습을 조명하고, 이를 바탕으로 초등교육의 내용에 주는 시사점을 논의하는 것이다. 연구결과, 첫째, Eisner의 인식론이 예술적 속성을 가진다는 측면에서, 그가 교육을 예술적 관점으로 이해하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 그 근거로 Eisner가 제시한 ‘경험의 질적 성격’, ‘감정 을 포함하는 확장된 인지관’, ‘감각의 중요한 역할’, ‘인지를 위한 매체로서 표상의 형식’을 들 수 있다. 둘째, 예술적 관점에서 교육내용은 ‘기초 교과’ 개념에서 벗어나, ‘표상의 형식’ 개념 으로서 이해된다. 셋째, Eisner의 ‘표상의 형식’으로서의 교육내용에 대한 이해는 초등교육의 내용과 관련해서 ‘메타학습’의 근거를 제공하는 시사점이 있다. Eisner의 교육에 관한 예술적 관점은 우리가 교육내용을 볼 수 있는 개념적 틀을 제공한다. 그 개념적 틀을 통해 초등교육의 내용을 좀 더 풍부하게 다른 각도에서 조명할 수 있다.
