First, the overall effect size of the correlation between parent-child communication and school adjustment was .11. Second, the effect size of a correlation between parent-child open communication and school adjustment(.293) was greater than that(. -0.52) of negative communication and school adjustment.. Third, of all the grade levels elementary school showed the largest effect size but in case of open communication, middle school also showed over medium effect sizes across all subscales of adjustment. And across all subscales of school adjustment, open communication showed larger effect sizes than negative communication. However, the effect sizes of middle school the effect size. The implications and limitations of these results as well as the direction of future research were discussed.
