The Causal Relationship of Academic Self-Efficacy and Maternal Variables on Adolescent's Academic Stress

The purpose of this study was to explore causal relation of academic self-efficacy and maternal variables on the academic stress adolescents. The subjects of the study were 349 second grade middle school students in Busan and their mothers who were selected through the questionnaire method. The results indicated that mother's trust of children, academic involvement, adolescent's academic self- efficacy and academic stress was different on academic achievement levels. In the group of high-academic achievement, mother's trust of children were indirectly affect through mother's academic involvement and academic achievement pressure to academic stress. Mother's academic involvement were directly affect to academic stress and also indirectly affect through academic self-efficacy. Mother's academic achievement pressure were directly affect to academic stress. In the group of low-academic achievement, mother's trust of children were indirectly affect through mother's academic achievement pressure and adolescent's self-efficacy to academic stress. Mother's academic involvement were indirectly affect through adolescent's self-efficacy to academic stress. Mother's academic achievement pressure were directly affect to academic stress.
