This paper explores the current condition of Maritime Police’s social media channels in order to povide Maritime Police with practical ides in using social media service. Based on the current results, the following implications are suggested in order to promote the efficient use of Maritime Police’s social media channels. First, it is very important to let citizens know that Maritime Police have their own social media channels. In addition to this, the Maritime Police should conduct a survey about satisfaction with their channels in order to facilitate long-term use. Second, Maritime Police shall pay the greatest attention so that information wanted by citizens may be provided in full contents. Third, Maritime Police should reconsider that their social media channel can be the most effective tool for developing a positive relationship with citizens. Fourth, social media shall be actively utilized as a basic tool employed before off-line relationships have been established.

이 논문은 해양경찰청에서 운영되고 있는 소셜 미디어의 운영현황과 활용실태에 대한 데이터를 분석하여 해양경찰청의 소셜 미디어 활용에 유용한 아이디어를 탐구 하고자 하는 기초연구이다. 분석을 통한 해양경찰청 소셜 미디어의 활성화 방안을 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 해양경찰의 소셜 미디어 운영 자체에 대한 홍보를 해야 할 것이며, 지속적 사용으로 이어질 수 있도록 만족도 조사 역시 수행해 나아가야 할 것이다. 둘째, 다 양한 정보의 제공과 더불어서 시민들이 만족할만한 수준의 정보를 소셜 미디어를 통 해서 제공해야 할 것이다. 셋째, 소셜 미디어를 통해서 시민에게 조금 더 친밀함을 전달 할 수 있도록 해야 할 것이다. 넷째, 오프라인에서의 관계를 형성 하기전의 기 초적인 도구로 소셜 미디어를 적극적으로 활용하도록 해야 할 것이다.
