STC(specialized trading companies) is a state-designated trading companies for small and medium manufacturers to support by Korean government from July 2014. We have overviewed the number of korean trader and present conditions, the function and role of trader, and then we developed the operating model of trade company. According to their scale and history, there are 4 different types of trade companies such as Nomal trading compny type, Trading company type developed from manufacturer, Manufacturer type developed from trader, and General trading compny type. We developed 4 different operating models of trade companies according to their function and role, such as s－STC(Small Business Trading Company), m－STC(Medium Business Trading Company), c－STC(Conglomerate Trading Company), and p－STC(Policy Trading Company). The Korea Foreign Trade Act introduce the new STC system for small and medium enterpreneurs to enhance their export from July 2014. One is ‘Ilban’ (which means normal or general)STC who will be designated for m－STC, c－ STC, the other is ‘Teukhwa’(which means specific or specialized) STC who will be designated for p－STC. Basically, the former focus on market oriented concept but the latter focus on public value.

본 연구는 2014년부터 대외무역법의 법정제도로 전환되는 전문무역상사에 대한 연구이다. 전문무역상사는 중소기업의 수출을 도와주기 위한 무역을 전문으로 하는 상사이다. 무역상사는 기능과 역할, 발전단계 등을 고려할 때 일반무역상사형, 제조기반무역상사형, 무역기반제조상사 형, 종합무역상사형 등 4가지로 구분할 수 있다. 아울러 전문무역상사의 운영모델로는 중소무역 상사형, 중견무역상사형, 대형무역상사형, 정책무역상사형 등 4가지로 설계될 수 있다. 이번 대외 무역법에 도입되는 전문무역상사는 일반 전문무역상사와 특화 전문무역상사로 구분하게 되는데, 이들을 전문무역상사의 운영모델과 연계하여 연구하였다.
