Reflections on Sino-ROK Relations in South Korea after the Cheonan Incident
천안함사건후한국대중한관계적반사
초록
영어
After the sinking of the South Korean navy warship Cheonan in March 2010 and the shelling of Yeonpyeong Island in November, China adopted a series of diplomatic actions to safeguard the stability of the Korean Peninsula. However, serious diplomatic conflicts occurred between China and South Korea over how to respond post-Cheonan. South Korea thought that the incident was a watershed in the development of China-ROK relations and launched a re-evaluation of its policy toward China. The Lee Myung-bak government accepted part of the results of the re-evaluation and partially adjusted its policy, but did not change its understanding of China fundamentally.
