For various aesthetic tasks and possibilities of Hanok as 'Korean architecture', the author constructed a dual pole of introvert-extrovert personality model for the elderly, as a theoretical tool of analysis. Along with this model, the requirements for scale, atmosphere of the space and for its composition were discussed. Applying this theoretical model for concrete design situation, the introvert-extrovert personality also can be exposed in a same person, and there arise the tendency toward introversion showing the preference of centripetal space that puts emphasis on the center, as the elderly people get older.

‘한국의 집’으로서 한옥의 다양한 가능성과 건축미학적 과제를 살펴보기 위하여, 노년계층을 중심으로 내향성과 외향성의 2원적 성격 모델을 설정하고 이론적 분석을 진행하였다. 이 성격 모델과 함께 은퇴 이후 생활수준(기본/안정/여유)에 따라 적절한 규모, 공간의 성격과 그 구성에서 고려하여야 할 요건을 실제 사례를 들어 논의하였다. 이론적 모델을 구체적 설계에 적용할 경우 외향성과 내향성이 복합적으로 나타날 수도 있으며, 삶의 말년에 다가갈수록 내향성에 근접할 가능성과 함께 중심이 강조되는 구심적 공간이 중요해질 수 있음도 논하였다.
