In this paper, we study inquiry tendency of science textbooks for gifted children in elementary schools. The contents in the science textbooks are divided into five parts: physics, chemistry, biology, geology and information science. Romey Analysis was implemented on four factors, which are text, data, activity, and evaluation. The results showed that ‘activity ‘ showed the highest degree of inquiry tendency, while two other parts - ‘text’and ‘evaluation’- demonstrated an authoritative tone and were written without ways for students to participate, thereby indicating room for improvement.

본 논문에서는 과학영재교육원 초등과학반 학생들이 사용하는 과학 교과서에 대해 탐구성을 분석한다. 과 학 교과서의 내용은 물리, 화학, 생물과학, 지구과학, 정보과학의 영역으로 구분되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 과학 교 과서의 5개 영역을 대상으로 Romey 분석법을 적용한다. 탐구성 분석은 4가지 분석요소인 본문, 자료, 활동, 평 가에 대한 조사를 통해 이루어졌다. 분석 결과에 따르면, 4가지 분석요소 중에 활동이 각 영역에서 상대적으로 탐 구성이 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 본문과 평가 분석요소의 경우 각각 2개 영역이 매우 권위적이고 학생 참여가 부 족한 형태로 구성되어 개선이 필요한 것으로 확인되었다.
