In which way has the korean economy developed? Which characteristic does it show up? The korean political economists in 1980s tried to reply to the question with ‘the discussion on social formation‘. On the base of neo-schumpeterian evolutionary economics, this paper continues to discuss the social formation of the korean economy. This model makes us understand not only the old theme on economic status of the korean social formation but also its institutional structure. From this model and empirical investigation this paper finds the korean social formation in 21th the knowledge-based economy with anti-social welfare. Moreover, the provisional conclusion of ’deepening monopoly and deepening dependance’ in 1980s is not proven.

한국자본주의는 어떤 경로를 걸어왔으며 그것의 성격은 무엇인가? 1980년대 한국의 정치경제학계는 이른바 ‘사회구성체논쟁’을 통해 이 질문에 대답하고자하였다. 이 연구는 네오슘페터리언 진화경제학의 이론적, 실증적 연구결과로부터 연구모형을 도출한 후 한국사회구성체 논의를 이어간다. 이 모형은 기존의 ‘경제적 지위’에 관한 주제는 물론 한국자본주의사회구성체의 ‘제도적 구조’를 동시에 이해할 수 있게 해 준다. 이러한 연구모형과 실증연구 결과 21세기 한국자본주의는 ‘반복지적 지식기반경제’로 진화해 왔음이 확인된다. 나아가 1980년대 사구체논쟁에서 제시된 ‘종속심화테제’는 입증되지 않는다. 다시 말해 자립경제를 달성함은 물론 새로운 기술경제패러다임에 성공적으로 적응하였지만 복지와 노동에 관해 매우 적대적인 성격을 보여주는 자본주의라는 것이다.
