The study is about the thoughts of elementary school teachers on physical education. 4four incumbent elementary school teachers were interviewed for physical education classes and it showed teachers’ thoughts, the problems of current physical education and improvement plan through interviews. Teachers reported that the course is not easy and it seems to be very tough for teachers because it is hard to develop functions and fun, companionship, sociability and self-confidence. In addition, teachers hope that it is expanded and more various in many ways but current circumstances of the school cannot support a variety of physical education classes in many reasons. I hope the study of elementary school physical education is going to be the foundation to solve the problem, the beginning of development and solid basis of physical education in elementary school

이 연구는 초등학교 교사들이 체육과 관련하여 어떠한 생각을 가지고 있 는지 밝혀내고 있다. 현직 초등교사 4명을 대상으로 학교체육 수업에 대한 인터뷰를 진행했으며 연구 참여자의 인터뷰를 통해 교사의 생각과 현재 학 교체육의 문제점, 개선방향 등을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 초등학교 교사들은 체육 이란 과목은 쉽지 않은 과목이라고 보고 있었다. 기능과 재미 나아가 교우관 계, 사회성, 자신감 등을 키워야 하기 때문에 어렵고도 꼭 해야 되는 과목이 라고 보고 있다. 또한 초등 교사들은 체육수업이 더욱더 확대되고 다양하게 바뀌었으면 좋겠다고 하지만, 학교의 여건이나 현실의 벽에 부딪쳐 다양한 체육수업은 힘들다고 입을 모으고 있다. 이 연구가 초등체육의 문제를 해결 하는데 기반이 되고 나아가 체육의 시작인 초등체육이 견고해지고 발달할 수 있는 기초가 되길 바란다.
