Job 38-42, the climactic part of the entire Book of Job, has produceda variety of interpretation. In this paper, I tried to contribute to makeclearer the central contents of Job 38-42 by interpreting from the literaryand psychospiritual point of view. By focusing on Job 40:3-5 and 42:1-6, I tried to show that these textshave a close relationship with Isaiah 6 in their indirect allusions from thelatter, and that there are certain psychospiritual paradigm between Jobanstory and the call narratives, Isaiah’s call narrative in particular. On thesebases, I have tried to reexamine the contents of Job 40:3-5 and 42:1-6, thefunction and role of Job 42:7-17 which follows the former texts, and toclarify the writing purpose of Joban author. On the basis of it, I have triedto bring it into relief that the purpose of the book is to show that God ofJob is the God who brings up His people, forgives and heals them, andalso the God who guides and leads His people, which is His servant, tobecome mature for His mission. I also tried to show that the Book of Jobis not such a book as can be read inadequately in a literarily fragmentedform, but only as one single book which has a literary unity in it.

욥기 전체의 절정부분에 해당되는 욥기 38-42장은 매우 다양한 해석을 산출시켜 왔다. 필자는 문학적 해석과 함께 영적 심리학적 관점에서, 이 본문의 중심 내용을 더욱 분명히 밝히는 일에 일조하고자 하였다. 필자는 욥기 40장 3-5절과 42장 1-6절의 해석에 초점을 맞추어 이 본문이 이사야 6장(소명체험)과 인유법적 차원에서 밀접한 관계를 가지고 있으며, 욥기와 소명기사들(특히 이사야) 사이에 일련의 영적 심리학적 패러다임이 있다는 사실을 검토하고, 이를 바탕으로 욥기 40장 3-5장과 42장 1-6절의 내용을 재검토함과 아울러, 이 본문에 이어지는 욥기 42장의 7-17절의 기능과 역할을 검토하고, 욥기 전체의 저작 목적을 명료히 하고자 시도하였다. 이를 통해 욥기의 저작 목적은 하나님은 사람을 온전하게 하시는 성장과 치유와 용서의 하나님이시며, 하나님의 백성을 성숙한 하나님의 종, 사명자로서 양육하고 인도하시는 분이심을 보여주는 것이라는 점을 부각시켰다. 필자는 이 연구를 통하여, 욥기는 문학적으로 파편화하여 읽을 수 있는 책이 아니라, 문학적 통일성을 가지고 있는 한권의 책으로 읽어야 하는 책임을 보여 주고자 하였다.
