In spite of the importance of reflecting students' needs on field trips related to Korean traditional culture, relatively little is known about the actual needs of students. The purpose of this study is to suggest the improvement of 'Creativity Activity(창의적 체험활동)' in out-of-school on Korean traditional culture. Data are drawn from survey of a representative sample of highschool freshmen(n= 471) in Incheon. Frequency analysis and content analysis were conducted on the data. The results were as follows. Firstly, it appears that varying the unit of the activity from grade unit to class unit is needed. Although large numbers of students experienced the activity in grade unit, the demand of class unit is relatively high. Secondly, the method of the activities needs to focus on experiencing the traditional culture not on sightseeing historical sites. Thirdly, students' needs should be reflected on choosing places of the activity. Preference of contemporary cultural places such as Insadong is higher than exploring traditional cultural property. Finally, students' awareness about traditional culture should be improved through 'Creativity Activity' in out-of-school. Survey showed that students' images about traditional culture were limited to traditional food, clothes, historical sites. Therefore, it is crucial to select places to teach students how traditional culture is passed and inherited in current everyday life. Furthermore, 'Creativity Activity' in out-of-school on Korean traditional culture should provide students the opportunity to understand the essence of traditional culture and to realize the significance of traditional culture.
