Parents of Fumiko went wandering before settling down in Onomichi where is the background of this piece of novel. They believed it would be temporary as they came to town, but finally stayed there until Fumiko finished her secondary school. The town became memorable not only due to the beautiful nature, but also the time with her parents and Gunichi Okano who is known as her first love. Onomichi was found as her identity-embedded place as she faced a hard time in Tokyo after secondary school. In town, Fumiko had a memory of her father victimized his family. He was slapped by policemen as he sold fake cosmetics, playing an accordion to live. All of those experiences were drawn through the heroine Masako.
