The purpose of this study is to develope the teachers’ competency domain for the multicultural education. In order to attain this purpose, analyzed Elementary and secondary curriculum associated with multicultural content General Studies, National College of Education's teacher education curriculum and multicultural teacher training curriculum and multicultural education teacher competency category. The content categories and sub-elements of multicultural education teacher training curriculum extracted through the research process were examined through experts review. The results for this study could be arranged as follows : First, the roles of teachers for multicultural education were divided into learning and life aspects. Second, the teacher competency category for multicultural education was extracted into the knowledge, the teaching skills and the recognition and attitude for multicultural education. Third, the each sub-element were extracted according to the teacher competency category. The results of this study will make sure to be applied as the basic data for multicultural teacher education curriculum model and the development of teacher training programs.

이 연구는 다문화교육을 위한 교사 역량 영역을 구안하는 데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 다문화교육과 관련된 초․중등교육과정, 전국 교육대학 교육과정, 교사연수프로그램 내용에 관한 현황 분석과 다문화교육 교사 역량 범주 및 요소 등을 추출하였다. 연구과정을 통해 추출된 다문화교육을 위한 교사 역량 영역은 전문가 검토를 통해 최종안을 구안하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화교육을 위한 교사의 역할은 학습적인 측면과 생활적인 측면에서의 역할로 구분하였다. 둘째, 다문화교육을 위한 교사 역량 범주는 다문화교육을 위한 지식, 다문화교육을 위한 교수기술, 다문화교육을 위한 인식과 태도로 추출하였다. 셋째, 다문화교육을 위한 교사 역량 범주에 따른 각 하위요소들이 추출되었다. 이 연구의 결과는 향후 다문화 교사교육과정 모형과 교사연수프로그램 개발을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
