This study investigated not only the relationship among perfectionism, career motivation and career indecision but also the function of career motivation between the two variables, perfectionism and career indecision. The study revealed the following results. The correlational analyses showed that the higher self-oriented perfectionism and other-oriented perfectionism the higher career motivation and the lower career indecision. And the higher socially-prescribed perfectionism the lower career motivation and the higher career indecision. There were significant differences in career motivation according to the level of self-oriented perfectionism(p<.05) and in career motivation and career indecision according to the level of socially-prescribed perfectionism(p<.001). The multiple regression analyses indicated that career motivation fully mediated the relationship between self-oriented perfectionism and other-oriented perfectionism and career indecision. Also, career motivation partially mediated the relationship between socially-prescribed perfectionism and career indecision. The results supported that career motivation reacted on the career decision-making, as a positive motivational strategy. The results suggested that socially-prescribed perfectionism endorsed negative career development. As a result, the mediating effect of career motivation was confirmed.

이 연구는 고교시기의 진로미결정의 중요성에 주목하여 고등학생의 진로미결정을 완화할 수 있는 인지적 요인으로서 진로동기에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 고등학생들의 완벽주의 성향(자기지향적, 타인지향적, 사회부과적)과 진로미결정의 관계에서 진로동기의 매개효과를 검증하기 위하여 고등학생 280명(남:166명, 여:114명)을 대상으로 자기보고식 검사도구를 활용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 상관관계분석, 다변량분석, 중다회귀분석을 통한 Baron과 Kenny(1986)의 매개효과 검증 절차를 따라 분석되었다. 분석된 결과에 따르면, 자기지향적, 타인지향적, 사회부과적 완벽주의 성향 모두 진로미결정에 유의미한 직접효과를 나타내고 있지만 진로동기를 매개로 하였을 때 자기지향 및 타인지향 완벽주의의 직접효과는 사라지고 매개변인인 진로동기의 직접효과가 증대됨으로써 진로동기는 진로미결정에 대한 완전매개효과를 보이고 있다. 반면 사회부과적 완벽주의 성향은 진로동기를 매개변인으로 하였을 때 여전히 진로미결정에 유의미한 영향을 미치고 있다. 그러나 진로동기를 매개하지 않았을 때에 비하여 그 직접효과가 대폭 감소함으로써 진로동기는 부분매개효과를 나타내었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 고등학생의 진로결정을 촉진하기 위하여 완벽주의 성향에 대한 차별적 접근과 진로동기 향상 프로그램의 개발 필요성에 대하여 논의하였다.
