This study examines that the use of standard scores in CSAT can cause advantages and disadvantages compared with that of raw scores through conducting statistical experiments. Even though the raw scores of mathematics test(Ga) are the same as those of mathematics test(Na), the average scores and the standard deviations can be different in each section, which lead to critical problems when the raw scores are expressed in the standard scores. Accordingly, If these problems are not settled systematically, the test scores can be determined by the type of mathematics test, not by the student's mathematical ability. Therefore, it is necessary to study more on the improvement of the use of standard scores and develop an appropriate form of the scoring system as following researches.

본 연구는 현행 대학수학능력시험 수리영역 (가)․(나)형에서 성적 지표로 표준점수를 사용하면서 나타나는 원점수에 대한 표준점수의 유․불리 여부와 이에 따른 수리 (가)형의 응시자 감소 현상을 통계․수치적 자료로 분석하였다. 이를 위해 2002년부터 2004년까지 수리영역 원점수의 평균과 표준편차를 통계적 절차에 의하여 추정하였고, 추정한 값을 근거로 (가)․(나)형의 원점수와 표준점수를 실제로 계산하여 두 점수에서 나타나는 차이의 여부를 수치적으로 검증하였다. 본 연구에서 밝힌 수리영역 (가)․(나)형에서 원점수가 같더라도 유형의 선택에 따라 표준점수로의 변환 시 수험생의 유․불리가 존재하는 문제를 해결할 수 있는 방안을 강구하지 못한다면, 현재와 같은 형태로 개편안이 논의 중인 2014년 수리영역 A․B형의 표준점수 체제에서도 유형의 선택에 따른 표준점수의 유․불리 문제가 발생하게 된다. 또한 표준점수의 유․불리 문제가 발생한 2005년 수능부터 수리 (가)형의 응시자가 급격하게 줄어들고, 고등학교 자연계열의 3학년 수학 교실에서 (가)형과 (나)형을 응시하는 학생이 같이 수업을 듣는 것과 같은 돌발 현상이 재현될 수 있다.
