The Personality Factors that Influence on the Group Verbal Interactions in Creative Scientific Activities

The purpose of this study were to analyze the characteristics of verbal interactions during the creative scientific group activities of the 11th grade students and to find out the personality factors that influence on the group verbal interactions. Results of the study showed that out of the diverse factors of personality characteristics of the members, agreeableness or extroversion was directly related to the frequencies of verbal interactions, while neuroticism such as hostility or emotional trauma was inversely related to. And the frequency of high level verbal interactions was directly related to those personality factors. Also the within group verbal interactions in the group which has no students with high level of agreeableness or extroversion were not active. On the other hand verbal interactions of the students who got high scores simultaneously in both personality factors which has directly related to and inversely related to the meaningful verbal interactions were depended upon the role of the group leader. This study implies that the personality characteristics of the students should be considered as important factors in constructing the members of the group to enhance meaningful verbal interactions within group.

이 연구는 특수상대성이론의 기초가 되는 동시성의 상대성 개념을 이해하는 과정에서 나타나는 학생 개념의 개입 유형 및 확신 유형을 조사하려는데 연구의 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 20명의 대학생 및 대학원생을 대상으로 면담을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 학생 개념의 개입 유형은 크게 ‘경험습득개념개입형’과 ‘교과학습개념개입형’으로 나눌 수 있었다. 경험습득개념형은, ‘동대상 동현상’ 개념이 가장 많이 나타났으며, 교과학습개념형은 특수상대성이론과 관련된 ‘광속불변의 원리’, ‘상대속도’ 등의 여러 개념들이 제시되었는데, 상황을 설명하기 위해 부적절하게 사용되는 경우가 대부분이었다. 또한 학생 개념의 확신 유형을 조사하기 위해서 상황분석틀을 개발하여 적용하였다. 그 결과 학생들의 확신 유형은 크게, ‘고갈등-고신뢰형’, ‘고갈등-저신뢰형’, ‘저갈등-고신뢰형’, ‘저갈등-저신뢰형’으로 나눌 수 있었다.
