The purpose of this study was to consider what influence extended poetry activities connecting with literature experience the sensing experience in nature easily accessible in the fields of young children's education exert on children's literacy ability. Results of this study were, First, extended poetry activities through nature experience have been shown to be effective in improvement of young children's reading ability. In the pre-test, both experiment and control groups were distributed most frequently in 8th and 9th stages among literal reading categories which represent the highest category of reading. However, in the post-test, it was shown that 2/3 of the young children were distributed in improved 10th and 11th stages in the case of experiment group with implementation of extended poetry activities through nature experience, whereas only 1/3 of the young children were found to distributed in 10th and 11th stages in the case of control group. Second, extended poetry activities through nature experience showed significant differences in young children's writing ability(p< .05).

본 연구는 자연에서의 감각적 자연체험과 문학적 경험을 연계한 동시 확장활동이 유아 문해능력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 연구이다. 연구의 대상은 강원도 원주시에 소재한 공립 유치원 2개원에 재원중인 만 5세 유아 34명이었다. 실험집단은 K초등학교병설유치원 유아 17명(남아 10명, 여아 7명)이며, 통제집단은 T초등학교병설유치원 유아 17명(남아 11명, 여아 6명)이었다. 실험집단 유아들은 자연체험을 통한 동시 확장 활동을 하였으며, 실험처치는 2011년 6월 1일부터 7월 22일까지 8주 동안 주 6회씩 총 48회 실시하였다. 연구도구는 Sulzby(1985)의 읽기능력 검사 도구를 강성숙과 한석실(2007)이 번안한읽기능력 검사와 Lindberg(1987)가 개발한 Kindergarten Writing Assessment를 노영희(1994)가 번안한유아의 쓰기능력 평정척도를 사용하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 자연체험을 통한 동시 확장활동이 유아의 읽기능력을 향상시키는데 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 사전검사에서 실험집단과 통제집단 모두 읽기의 범주 중 가장 높은 범주인문자 읽기중 8단계와 9단계에 가장 많이 분포되어 있었다. 그러나 사후검사에서는 자연체험을 통한 동시 확장활동을 실시한 실험집단의 경우 2/3의 유아들이 10단계와 11단계로 향상되어 분포된 반면 통제집단은 1/3의 유아들이 10단계와 11단계에 분포된 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자연체험을 통한 동시 확장활동이 유아의 쓰기능력을 향상시키는데 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다.
