This is the historical contemplation about the memoirs of biography of Yi Sun-Sin[李舜臣] revered as a national hero and immortal spirit in Korean history. In this study, I have tried to illuminate the value and meaning on the hangul manuscript ‘Haengjang’[行狀] in Joseon dynasty. Especially [튱무공행장], a new material of the collection in Woori Hangul Museum, has been analyzed more intensively. in Woori Hangul Museum is one book and estimated that it might be published during the late 18th through the early 19th century according to the form and writing patterns of the words. It is considered that it is written for women who may not know chinese characters to pay respect and remember their ancestors' deeds even if there is no information about the transcriber. ‘Chungmugonghaengrok’ has undergone certain modifications over the period of time. A typical example is a part of childhood anecdotes. It showed two episodes in the chinese version [忠武錄] presumed to be published before 1643, but they haven't appeared on ｢Haengrok｣[行錄] of [李忠武公全書] released under the order of King Jeonjo in 1795. However, is a valuable translated material which well reflects the early Hangul Haengjangl. Furthermore it is expected to be widely used for the basic material on future research of Yi Sun-sin.

본 논문은 우리의 역사에서 민족적 영웅이며 불멸의 정신으로 추앙받고 있는 이순신의 전기라고 할 수 있는 충무공행록에 대한 고찰이다. 그중에서도 한글로 번역 필사된 행장(行狀) 우리한글박물관 소장 <튱무공행장 >을 집중적으로 분석 고찰하여 가치와 의미를 조명하고자 하였다. 우리한글박물관 소장 <튱무공행장>은 1책으로 전체 99면으로 이루어져 있다. 구체적인 필사 시기 기록은 없 지만, 나타나는 어휘의 형태와 표기로 미루어 18세기 말에서 19세기 초에 필사된 것으로 추정된다. 또한 덕수 이씨 후손가 집안에서 여성들을 위해 선조의 행적을 기리고 본받을 수 있도록 특별히 한글로 작성된 것으로 판단된다. 현재 확인되는 한글필사본 행장은 총 4종이다. 우리한글박물관 소장본은 현존하는 필사본 가운데 시기가 가 장 이르다. 내용은 비교적 충실히 李芬의 ｢行錄｣을 옮겨 적고 있지만, 일부분에서는 차이를 보인다. 1795년에 간행된 <李忠武公全書>의 ｢行錄｣에 없는 어린 시절 일화가 수록되어 있기도 하고, ｢行錄｣이 아닌 다른 문헌에 보이는 기록들이 수록되어 있는 등 복잡한 모습이다. 향후 이순신 연구를 위한 기초 사료로 널리 활용될 수 있 기를 고대한다.
