As globalization pursued on the back of neo-liberalism incited movement of human resources putting forward flexible labor, the world is facing the era of migration today. Chosunjok(Ethnic Koreans living in China) forms a large majority of foreign laborers in Korea that is going through transition to a receiver of human resources. Since 1992 when Korea established diplomatic ties with China, Chosunjok, the diaspora that was born in the wake of the Japanese colonial rule, has begun to enter Korea, but they have failed to draw attention of the Korean movie circles as they were closer to North Korea in terms of geology and ideology. Since the movie titled the Yellow Sea was released in 2010, the symbol of the Chosunjok that had been created through a series of films such as Count Down, Conspirators and The New World led an ethnic group, a nation and an area to be combined with a genre and generate a certain discourse in the least amount of time. This paper is focused on analyzing the theory of a global city where super-national migration is explained based on the fact that a global city where capital and human resources are concentrated on the strength of economic mechanism that is operating at a global level is born and that crimes are globalized as well with regard to the process where the Chosunjok is created in a cultural sense in Korean crime movies. In crime movies, the Chosunjok is diminished as outdated value, and it is due to the fact that Korea wants to join the ranks of advanced countries on the back of information and communication technology by vigorously internalizing neoliberal discourse. As return of the Chosunjok, the fellow countrymen, is likely to expose the artificiality and impossibility of a boundary between migrants and insiders betraying the weakness of the boundary, the Chosunjok is reenacted as ‘uncanny’ or ‘abject.’Freud and Kristeva said that outsiders were not that different from insiders urging us to change viewpoint based on translocality. According to a translocal viewpoint, locals do not think oppositively separating their own locality from their current residential locality, and they create a new local situation without giving up on two or more identities. However, as a nation-state is still powerful, it appears to exist in the territory of impossibility.

신자유주의 담론과 결합한 전지구화가 ‘노동의 유연화’를 내세우며 인력의 이동을 부추긴 결과 오늘날 세계는 소위 ‘이주의 시대’를 맞고 있다. 대한민국도 2007년 국내 체류 외국인 노동자가 100만 명을 넘어서며 인력 유 입국으로 전환하고 있다. 현실의 변화에 접속한 한국영화가 최근 몇 년 사이 스크린에 외국인 노동자를 등장 시키는 가운데 외국인 노동자 중 대다수를 차지하는 조선족의 로컬리티는 범죄영화로 수렴되고 있다. 1992년 한․중 수교 이후 증가하기 시작한 조선족은 일제의 식민지배로 탄생한 디아스포라로서 조선족은 그동 안 지리적으로나 이데올로기 면에서 북한과 근접해 한국영화에서는 그다지 관심의 대상이 되지 못했다. 그런 데 2010년 <황해> 이후 일련의 영화들 <카운트다운>(2011), <공모자들>(2012), <신세계>(2013)를 통해 연변 /조선족의 표상은 가장 단시간에 민족/국가/지역이 하나의 장르와 결합하여 특정한 담론으로 굳어지고 있다. 이 글은 로컬로서의 연변/조선족이 범죄영화에서 재현되고 문화적 의미로 생산되는 과정을 초국가적 이주의 문제로 접근하였다. 최근 범죄영화가 재현하는 조선족의 로컬리티는 전지구화가 배출한 쌍생아인 글로벌한 범죄와 이주민이 충돌 적으로 결합한 결과이며 범죄영화에서 연변/조선족의 과도한 폭력성은 우리 사회에 누적된 경제적 스트레스 와 외국인 노동자를 만나는 현장에서의 히스테리가 발생시킨 상상물이라고 할 수 있다. 범죄영화에서 조선족 은 전근대적 가치로 영역화 되는데 그것은 조선족이 정보통신 기술을 발판으로 삼고 전지구화의 부국으로 진 입하고자 신자유주의 담론을 철저히 내화한 한국이 억압하고 싶은 기억을 떠올리게 하기 때문이다. 같은 민족 인 조선족의 귀환이 식민 조선으로서의 열등하고 빈곤한 기억을 표면화할 뿐만 아니라 이주민과 내부인 사이 에 놓인 경계의 인위성, 불가능성을 폭로하여 그 경계의 허약함을 드러낼 가능성이 있기 때문에 조선족은 친 숙하고도 낯선 존재 혹은 ‘어브젝션’으로 재현된다. 한국에서 신자유주의가 일상화되는 것과 비례해 조선족이 전근대에 대한 향수를 자극하는 멜로드라마에서 사라지고 그것을 철저하게 억압한 범죄영화를 통해서만 살아 남은 이유도 여기에 있다. 타자가 우리와 완전히 다르지 않다는 프로이드와 크리스테바의 지적은 우리가 트랜스로컬리티(translocality) 의 관점으로 시각을 전환할 것을 촉구하고 있다. 트랜스로컬적 시각이란 로컬과 로컬을 대립적으로 사고하거 나 자신이 속한 로컬과 현재 거주하는 로컬을 분리하여 사고하는 것이 아니고 두 개나 그 이상의 정체성을 포 기하지 않으면서 새로운 로컬적 상황을 만들어내는 것이다. 여전히 국민국가의 위력이 강고한 현실에서 그것 은 아직 (불)가능성의 영역에 놓여있지만 그 경계를 담론화하는 것이 한국영화에서 새로운 로컬리티 재현의 출발이 될 수 있다.
