External growth has surged mainly in Korean companies strengthened with technological competitiveness through advancement into overseas markets. To sustain this growth trend, additional plans for overseas investment has been organized. For these reasons, the need of professional accountants equipped with global business competence and business insight is rapidly increasing more than ever. In this circumstance where the demand for professional accountants is rapidly changing in businesses, accounting programs in domestic universities have not timely analyzed the trends in changes of business environment and suggested responsive measures for businesses. Moreover, the late response and same education curriculum of domestic universities have failed to nurture accounting professionals tailored for business needs. Therefore, this study aims to examine the demand for building competence in professional accountants and empowerment cases of professional accountants in domestic companies, and propose the following implications for accounting educations in Korean universities. First, accounting is a language enabling the communication among users of accounting information by representing accounting data into the accomplishment of a firm. Therefore, accounting knowledge needs to be dealt by integrating the context of business management and communicative functions. Second, accounting education aiming for obtaining the CPA and the current curriculum mainly consisting of the CPA Exam subjects need to be avoided in domestic universities. The accounting curriculum needs to be revised to nurture accounting professionals necessitated by many businesses and industries in order to encourage outstanding individuals to major in accounting. Third, the current way of fostering accounting professionals equipped with accounting knowledge only is limited to cope with rapidly changing business environment and nurture outstanding accountants who can immediately work in the actual field. Therefore, education courses laying the foundation for basic competence essential in the actual work field need to be included in the accounting curriculum. Fourth, education on ethical management and professional consciousness neglected in the current accounting curriculum needs to be strengthened and students should be encourage to investigate more case studies and participate in the class discussions. This study is meaningful to examine the role changes of accounting professionals in domestic firms in response to globalization and empowerment cases of professional accountants in domestic firms, and suggest the need of changes in current accounting courses in domestic universities.

최근 기술경쟁력이 강화된 기업들을 중심으로 국내 기업의 해외진출을 통한 외형성장이 급증하고 있고 이러한 성장세를 유지하기 위한 추가적인 해외진출 계획들이 수립되고 있다. 이에 글로벌 비즈니스 역량과 사업적 식견(insight)을 갖춘 회계전문인력의 필요성이 그 어느 때보다도 증가하고 있다. 이처럼 기업의 회계전문인력에 대한 요구는 빠르게 변화하고 있는 상황에서 우리나라 대 학의 회계교육은 기업들의 경영환경의 변화와 그에 따른 기업들의 대응 방향에 대한 동향분 석을 적시에 하지 못하고 너무 늦은 대응과 변화 없는 교육 커리큘럼으로 기업들의 필요에 맞는 회계인재들을 배출해내지 못하고 있는 것이 현실이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국내 기업을 둘러싼 회계전문인력 역량강화 요구와 그에 따른 국내 기업들의 회계전문인력 역량강화 추 진사례를 살펴보고 우리나라 대학의 회계학 교육에서 고려할 몇 가지 시사점을 정리해 본다. 첫째, 회계학의 목표는 회계정보이용자간의 의사소통을 위해 회계 데이터를 기업의 성과에 대하여 의사소통하는 언어로 사용할 수 있도록 하는 데 있다. 따라서 회계학 지식은 기업 경 영의 맥락 및 의사소통 기능과 통합하여 다루어져야 한다. 둘째, 회계교육의 목표를 공인회계사 배출에 두고 공인회계사 시험과목 위주로 교과목을 구성하는 현재의 교육과정을 지양하고 기업에서 요구하는 회계전문인력을 양성할 수 있는 방식으로 수정하여 산업계에 진출할 인재들이 회계학을 전공하도록 유도해야 한다. 셋째, 회계학 지식만을 갖춘 인재 양성으로는 급변하는 경영환경에 대응하여 기업에서 활 용 가능한 우수 인재를 배출하는데 한계가 있다. 따라서 기업 현장에서 필요로 하는 역량의 기초를 다질 수 있는 교육과정을 포함하여야 할 것이다. 넷째, 추가적으로 기존의 회계학 교육에서 소홀하였던 윤리경영 교육과 전문가의 직업의식 교육 등의 분야를 강화하고, 사례연구 및 토론식 수업의 비중을 늘려야 할 것이다.
