The purpose of this study is to reveal the primary factors and the scale of the wooden types which had been engraved to print the Injo-sillok and Hyojong-sillok. Many types were necessary to print book at once for saving the printing time because the sillok was printed using a lot of typesetting plates, generally. Basically because of the lack and abrasion of existing types, the demands for making supplementary wooden types were increased. The great part of typesetting craftmen belonged to Kyoseogwan and the rest of them belonged to Kwansangkam, etc. To recognize the exact number of types, we need to calculate the amount of woods used to make the types more than the number of engravers who were mobilized from countries in rotation. Boxwood tree and birch were main timber to make the wooden types. Usually the former was provided from Kangwondo, the latter was supplied by Kyoseogwan anytime if necessary.

본 연구는 의궤의 기록을 바탕으로 인조실록자와 효종실록자의 각자 요인과 그 규모에 대해서 검토한 것이다. 실록은 일반적으로 다수의 균자판을 사용하며, 그런 이유로 동일한 글자의 복자가 다량으로 소용되었다. 그리고 양대 실록을 인출할 당시에는 기존 활자의 상태가 좋지 않아서 보자의 수요가 컸다. 균자장은 대부분 교서관에 소속된 공장들이었으 며, 여기에 일부 관상감 소속 및 외방의 장인이 포함되었다. 양대 실록자의 각자 규모를 판단함에 있어서는 각수의 인원보다 각자의 재료인 황양목이나 자작판의 사용량에 더욱 주목할 필요가 있다. 양대 실록을 간행할 때에 많은 인원의 각수가 동원되었지만, 소수의 교서관 소속의 공장을 제외하고, 외방의 각수는 사실 회차를 두고 따로따로 동원되었기 때문이다. 황양목 및 자작판과 같은 각자용 목재는 이때 평소보다 두 배가 넘는 양이 사용 되어 당시 각자가 대규모로 이루어졌음을 짐작하게 한다.
