Explosion Characteristic and Ignition Hazard of Magnesium Dusts

This study was conducted on the influences of dust concentration and particle size distribution on magnesium (Mg) and Magnesium alloy (Mg-Al) dust explosion. Experimental investigations were conducted in a 20-L explosion sphere apparatus. This research was aimed at determining the relationships between different Mg ratio content of Mg-Al alloy and its maximum explosion pressure (Pmax), maximum rate of pressure rise [(dP/dt)max], minimum explosion concentration (MEC). And ignition hazard were conducted by using TGA(Thermo gravimetric analysis). As the results, ignition hazard increased with increasing of Mg ratio content in Mg-Al alloy dust.
