In this article, it was reviewed that how dismissal from work and unemployment which are important stressors in Korean society acted as psychological trauma experiences. Psychological trauma from dismissal and unemployment can cause emotional insensibility, increase in susceptibility of a feeling of helplessness, post‐traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), emotional disorder, psychological disorder such as dissociation, drug intake and addiction, suicide and selfdestructive behaviors. Accordingly, this article tried to understand psychological traumatic aspects of dismissal and unemployment and explained psychological foundation for the society to seek to solutions.

본고에서는 현재 한국사회에서 중요한 스트레스의 원인인 직장 에서의 해고 및 실업이 어떠한 심리외상적 경험으로 작용하는지 에 대해서 개관하였다. 해고 및 실업으로 인한 심리적 외상은 정 서적인 무감각, 무력감 민감성의 증가와 외상후 스트레스 장애, 정 서장애, 해리성 장애와 같은 심리장애, 약물복용 및 중독, 자살과 자기파괴적 행동들을 유발할 수 있다. 따라서 해고 및 실업의 심 리외상적인 측면을 이해하고 진지하게 사회가 함께 이에 대한 해 결책을 강구해야 하는 심리학적인 근거를 설명하였다.
