This study investigates 198 military wives in order to find out the prevalence and therespondents' personal and psychological characteristics, and their husbands’ job andfamily related characteristics of the family strengths. The results from the research were1) the degree of their family strengths is a little more higher than the other families. 2)there are significant differences between the respondents' education, health condition andtheir perceived family strengths. 3) factors influencing on the family strengths are therespondents' health condition, living together or not, depression, self-esteem, maritalsatisfaction, military family sprit, perception of family problems. This findings give us several meaningful implications for military policy and practicerelated with supporting military families. Finally, based on the findings the researcherrecommends that effective strategies for sustaining the family strengths of militaryfamilies are needed.

본 연구는 직업군인 아내들을 대상으로 그들의 인구사회학적 특성, 직업적 특성, 심리내적 특성, 그리고가족관계 특성이 가족건강성에 어떤 영향을 주는지를 고찰하였다. 그 결과, 조사대상자들의 가족건강성 수준은 기존 선행연구들과 비교해볼 때 상대적으로 조금 더 높았다. 조사대상자의 특성에 따른 가족건강성의 이를 분석한 결과, 학력과 건강상태에서 통계적으로 의미 있는 차이가 나타났는데, 즉 고졸이하 보다는대졸 이상의 경우와 건강이 약한 상태보다는 좋은 편이라고 인식하는 경우에 가족건강성이 높았다. 가족건강성에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석한 결과에서는 인구사회학적 특성에서는 건강상태 변인이, 직업적 특성에서는 전체 가족과의 동거여부가 영향을 미쳤다. 심리내적 특성에서는 우울과 자아존중감이, 그리고 가족관계 특성에서는 결혼만족도, 군인가족의 자부심, 가족문제 인식이 영향을 미쳤다. 즉, 조사대상자들이 건강상태가 좋은 편이라고 인식하고, 전체 가족과 동거하지 않고, 우울하지 않고, 자아존중감이 높으며, 결혼만족도와 군인가족으로서의 자부심이 높고, 가족문제의 심각성이 낮을수록 가족건강성은 높았다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로, 향후 군인가족의 가족건강성을 향상시킬 수 있는 다양한 방안들을 제언하였다
