A Study on the Revised Educational Curriculum according to Surveying the Demand of Some Beauty-shop Businesses and Undergraduates

The purpose of this study was to develop systematic and specialized curriculum available for satisfying the demand of alumni and beauty-shop businesses as well as undergraduates With having subjects as undergraduates and beauty-shop employees, the questionnaire was carried out targeting 116 undergraduates from November 12, 2012 to November 16 and targeting 106 beauty-shop employees from November 12, 2012 to November 30. The following conclusions were obtained. Examining satisfaction with curriculum by each major according to major field in undergraduates, the dissatisfaction stood at 44 people (54.3%) in the skin care major as for the satisfaction with skin care curriculum. The ratio of response as saying of being moderate was the largest in hair major, make-up major, and other major. Significant difference was shown (p<.01) according to major field. Examining the analytical results of beauty-shop employees, the necessity of improvement in the whole curriculum for this school was the largest in moderate. The next was shown to be the need. In light of this, the outcome was shown that is opposed to improvement in curriculum by each major in students as for necessity of improvement in the current curriculum. Thus, the beauty-shop employees can be considered to be needed the improvement in school curriculum. The major intensive course and the optional subject were shown to be necessary given improving curriculum. As a result of this statistics, researchers for the department of skin beauty at this school aimed to devise improvement in curricular system of the major intensive course and the optional subject, which increase students' satisfaction with improvement in curricular system and meets the demand of beauty-shop employees, by adjusting instructional hours compared to credits rather than changing curricular subject by each major in improving a system of curriculum. Hence, a system of curriculum was enhanced as follows. Examining the improved curriculum, the skin care major was sharply reduced 20 instructional hours along with a rise in totally 2 credits from 104 teaching hours with 83 credits in 2012 to 84 teaching hours with 85 credits in the improved curricular system. Even the hair major was greatly reduced 21 instructional hours along with a rise in totally 1 credit from 104 teaching hours with 83 credits in 2012 to 83 teaching hours with 84 credits in the improved curricular system.
